In 1844 , the Treaty of Grapevine Springs between the Republic of Texas and Indian groups to bring “peace, friendship and commerce” to the area was signed. In 1845, Texas became the 28th state in the Union. Although settlers began coming into Grapevine as early as the 1600's, the City was incorporated in 1907. In 1965 it became a Home Rule municipality which operates under the policy leadership of the Mayor and Council and the administrative leadership of a professional City Manager.
Grapevine was known in its early years as Grapevine Prairie. The settlement was renamed to Grapevine because of its location on the Grape Vine Prairie near Grape Vine Springs, both of which were named for the wild mustang grapes that blanketed the area.
In the early to mid 1980's, the majority Winding Creek Estates were established on what was formerly the historical McPherson Farm. Homes were built beginning on Winding Creek South and the neighborhood moved north to Branchwood to be finally built out by the early 1990's.
Winding Creek Estates is located near D/FW International Airport, Lake Grapevine, and historic Downtown Grapevine. It is almost equidistant to Dallas and Fort Worth, too. The neighborhood is very desirable due to the wonderful neighbors, mature trees and landscaping, and school districts provided to the neighborhood.
The Winding Creek Neighborhood Association has a continued mission to promote peace within our community, forge friendships with our neighbors, and maintain our property values.
